Ahh... Summer in Chicagoland. Too bad I wasn't here last week and would've tried to stay over and finagel an invite to CHA. Oh well. I got to do some shopping none the less. I just love Paper Source. Turn out one of the new hire at work, his wife is the CEO of Paper Source, so trying to put a bug in his ear to tell her to expand down to Texas. Ahhh... that would've been nice!

Tonight I'll be going to one of their LSS here, run by Rick & Terry. For 2 guys running a business that's women-centric, they're really awesome. They know to look for fun and not too frou frou stuff. Always updating their stock, and know to bake us cookies for classes. That's my type of guys. =D

In a box

So, as promised, here's my box.

This was made from instructions from Stamping Pro. I know there are alot of different version of the instructions, I must've 4 different ones, but this one suits me fine.

This is a Bday gift for my boss, who have lots of picture of her daughter. And truth be told, she is the cutest 18 month old you know. She can speak with great annunciation at that age, can you image how great when she grows up? That's amazing to me.

Well, I was soooo excited to show you the explosion box that I had made for my boss, who's birthday is Monday (but I won't be here). But something is wrong w/ my card reader and it didn't want to load anything this morning... If that's the indication of how my tech day will go, it will not be pretty.

Instead, I'm going to tell you how excited I am to go to Chicago for work. Since we don't have any LSS here (I know, 4th largest city in the country, we don't have any stamp stores here), I'm looking forward to visiting others. This weekend is the Warehouse Sale for Paper Source. If you want nice cardstock, I mean for weddings and what nots, that's the place to go. Plus, they have their own lines of stamps, so I'm hoping to find an Indian Paisley that I've seen but have not found. (I know they are a chain, but since I don't have one near me, thought I thow it out there that the sale is this weekend.

The other one that I always make a point to stop in is Stamp On In.

This is a store that is ran by 2 guys, and I don't know any 2 guys that cares for their clients so much. If you take classes with them, they bake you cookies and provide refreshments. Sometimes they order dinner for you too. Since they're right there at Chi-town, where CHA just happened, they're happy to share what goodies they find and let you flip thru their wholesale catalog which you don't get to see often. They carry a little bit of every thing to cater to all tastes. Too bad I am not there long enough to take a class, but I love those guys. They also have an online store call More Than Ink, so if you want to buy something they are a tad cheaper than the store itself.

I know there's Stampology and Windy City Scrap, but since I'm relying on public transportations, I don't get to go far. Hopefully I'll go back one day and go visit.

I'll post something good later, promise!

Sorry for not posting yesterday. Too much drama at work that threw the day off.

Alright. Let's get to it. :) Since everyone is doing Xmas cards, I kinda jumped on the bandwagon too. This isn't so much a Xmas card as much as a Winter card. I'm just head over heels over this snowman, so I have to do something with it. So, once I got him on the page, I'd figured that I need to add something else with it. I thought I had some snowflakes 3D embellishment stickers, but can't find it anywhere. So, I just stamped them instead. It does makes me feel like I'm looking from the birds-eye view there. Did I mention how much I love the snowman?

Peek-a-boo

I love Penny Black, they got the cutest hedgehoge ever. I got this image from my order w/ Eclectic Paperie. I was going to play with my Gamsol but I was too in love with my Prisma Blender Pencil. I swear, you lightly color in the image and go over it with the Blender pencil, it just pops right up. A la the two flowers, compare to the little pot that he came out of. Too cool! Highly recommend it.

Have a great day!

CASEing

I totally CASEed this from the Hero Arts catalog. Sometimes I really like to flip thru catalogs and see what comes of it. Some stuff lookes complex but easy to do. This is not complex by any imagination, but it keeps me stamping. Plus, I felt like I've been neglecting my colored-ink pads. So, I feel like my Flamingo ink pad needed to be worked out. :D

I think my most used ink pads are Black and Brown. What's yours?

Things that makes you go hmm...

Whenever I see this girl, it just makes me think she's saying 'Hmm...'. I got this Crafty Secrets set as soon as it came out. As a matter of fact, Arlington GASC was the first place they debuted it, other than their site, of course. I love how she's 40s vintage and so Shabby Chic is the key for her. I'm dying to find something really sarcastic to stamp along. So, if anybody got any suggestions, hollar!

Gal Gabs

This is another stamp from Rubber Romance, the funny antecode is that I had ordered Gossip Time from Eclectic Paperie. The stamp I was looking at was the bottom half of 2 girls and you can tell they are standing close w/ their handbags where you can tell they're talking. But this is even better. So, no regrets here! :)

Yay!!!

Guess who got her stamp order in the mail?! That'd be me!!! I was busy watching the first season of Veronica Mars, so that interrupted the stamping time, but managed to get a card in there...

I just love Rubber Romance stuff. Their site was down yesterday and Robin got on the horn and emailed me back. They rawk! What else is funny is that, I got this batch of UM from Eclectic Paperie, and I had asked for Gossip Time (which shows 2 girls bottom half just being chic and carrying their purses) instead I got 3 girls hanging out. I was so thrilled. They're so awesome, must stamp something tonight to show you guys.

Sorry, no pic today... tied up at work... grrr...

Of course, I was browsing thru my Google Reader, and Allison pointed out that the SU Holiday Catty is out... dang it! Evil evil girl... of course I have to stop and see what they got.

OMG, can I just say drool... I really like their SNOW jumbo wheel, the cute Merry & Bright set, the classy Stem Silhouette, and def. the True Friend to accent the Broque Motif. Geez... SU is killin' me... I don't have anymore room to put more stamps.. Gah!

Then again, if they don't have something that moves me, their marketing peeps aren't doing their jobs, right. Oy! Here it is, see it for yourself: http://www.stampinup.com/us/documents/Holiday_Mini_07_US.pdf

And p.s. is Rubber Romance down? I can't go to their site, anybody having problems?

Simple cards

I love it when cards are simple to make but doesn't look that way to people and they get all impressed by you. I just love it. Sometimes, my muse bless me with color combo and layout ideas and it all comes together in a snap. This is pretty simple and no frill, so I'm totally ok w/ that. =D

I'm loving this piece from One Hour Craft about needed some kick from the behind to get your creative juices flowing. I think some of points are pretty direct, but there's definitely some points I've never thought of before. Like getting a good night's sleep, making yourself take a time out, avoid caffeine or plain give up and move on. I know there are times that I get so obsessed with a project that just want it to be perfect. But, it's nice to give yourself permission to not have a perfect project and enjoy the process too.

Sympathy

You know, sometimes you wonder if it's true, that death comes in 3s. I had made one card for an acquaintance of mine. His mother passed away, but has been in ill-health for some time. Then, my college roommate had to give birth to a still born. Then, my friend's husband's grandmother passed away. Ironically, that last one was a relieve, because she lives a way from town, and they made the weekly trips to see her and made sure she was comfortable. That was very nice of them and of her, since she just married into that family.
Anyway, I made this card for them, because I really think that they're so great to have done so much, and sacrifice alot of their time for her. I just admire them so much.

I promise tomorrow I'll post a different card, but I was kinda stuck in the mode.  You know what I mean, there are days where you just work on one thing and for some reason it just fascinates and make you want to keep doing that same project couple of times before you will give up.  Anyway, I made this card for my friend Lisa who is preggers and ready to pop any day now.  She's so skinny to begin with, with the pregnancy the belly looks bigger than usual.  But even then, she's still pretty.  So, I thought that's only fitting to find the preggars girlie for her.

This is a card I made for MIL's bday.  I didn't know that she's a big James Avery fan, I would've stop there for her gift.  Anyway, I really like MFT's stamps, so just thought it'd be good to make a card for her.

Relax

You know, having July 4th in the middle of the week somehow made the week feels longer. Even though we've been looking at it on the calendar and thought, yay, work 2 days, off one day then work 2 days. Seriously, if it was me, I'd have 4 day weeks and be done with.

Totally need some R&R? Well, this is a good start. I like the bubbly girl so much. When I see her, I can feel the relaxation coming thru, even though I'm not really having a bubble bath. =)

Anyway, love how simple it is...

Was reading Amy's post about being rejected by publications. That's a tricky thing... you really have to submit the right thing at the right time for the right person to see in order to get published. Even then, I was talking to my friend Pamela that certain pubs if they don't know you or haven't heard your name before, you have to work twice as hard to come up with something extraordinary to get in.

That just stinks.
Because there are so many publications out there that would publish anything, but not something great. For instance, I will never forget this and also what drives me to constantly submit for pubs. This one issue, they published this pre-printed card by DCWV, and the sender tied a piece of floss with a charm on it, and it got published. I was sooooo mad. I mean, c'mon. Who can't tied a damn floss w/ a thing dangling in front of a pre-printed card. To me, that shows very little artistic talents. I mean, I see how many talented ladies that are hard at work, and a lot truely have a gift, and they don't get published but someone ties a floss gets published. That's just retarded to me.
That said, I'm not about to give up on my submission. You do have to know what they're looking for, i.e. current and new product used, the newest and what will be the hottest six months from today. So, you have to constantly stay ahead of the curve. If you submit stuff to say, JoAnn's, best not to use product from Michael's or Hobby Lobby's exculsive products. That wouldn't make much sense to tell the reader to go to a competitor to buy the products you used. Another thing, I've been told by several people now, is that they have works sent in years ago, and thought the publishers didn't like it. But then, all of a sudden, get an email saying that their cards will be published, so that can definitely happen.
To all who are trying to get publish, myself included, keep up the good work and don't give up. Show them what you got!

World Card Making Day

Well, don't know if you have heard or not, but there's a site called World Card Making Day.  And the 'big' day is first Saturday of October.   Sounds like this has already been done last year.  But this year seems to be bigger and better.  You can see what the manufacturer have to share in terms of projects and you can see what others wanted to share as well.  I posted this Bday card.  I just love how it looks.  Both patterned paper by The Angel Company, I highlighted the paisley by the Sakura glitter pen, and the Bday tag is by Paper Source, which I LOVE!!!

So, to that, have an Happy 4th!

This is something I kinda just playing around with. I love the color despite the fact that it doesn't really have a theme.

I just love how they come together. And little flowers flourishing along and the paint chip I picked up at Home Depot called Hidden Spring. So, I figured, hey, this is a hidden spring for flowers to come up. :)
