So, I love this space Ian, and since he's holding a heart flag, "you rule my world' came to mind. Except, I have no letters that are that small to fit that space, so, I had to write that in w/ my Souffle pens. I love those, by the way.

The funny thing is that the paper I had was just green and mix of brown, but who would've thought that it makes a good planet/moon. Ha!

Enjoy! Stay tune for Jan 1, I'm going to roll out a blog candy for the new year!

I love presents, and who doesn't? The element of surprise, the niceness of the person giving it to you. Granted, there are alot of weird choices that people have made before. The most bizarre one I've gotten was a toilet seat. No, I did not use it... I want to say that I didn't have the heart to return it, but definitely have no intention of using it. Nor do I know where it is. So, I guess that's that.

This year, my friend will host a New Years Day party where we swap white elephant gifts, that'll be fun. Last year at another similar swap I got a set of tools for eating lobster. As much as I like to eat lobster, I don't do it enough to necessitate any tools. So, that will go into the While Elephant pile. Much like the fruit cake. It's a gift that keeps on giving.

Been tagged...

... by Sarah at Sew Crafty. Before I start the meme, I have to tell you guys our Wine Charm class w/ stamped shrinky dink was a hit!

We had anticipated 4 people to show by the end of the night there were 7 of us. How cool was that?! What's more cool, is that she's donation a portion of the class fee to Star of Hope (a local shelter) to buy some craft supplies for their programs. That's awesome!

Alright, here's what I've been tagged with:
* Link your original tagger(s), and list these rules on your blog.
* Share seven facts about yourself in the post - some random, some weird.
* Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
* Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs and/or Twitter.

7 Facts:

1, I hate peas. For some reason, when I bite into one, it reminds me of the scene where Snow White bit into the poison apple. Don't know why, but that's what I associate peas with.

2, I liked raw carrots but not cooked ones. Again, it's another weird thing... maybe the mush-ness is not my thing, but the raw carrots always reminds me of bunny that eat to get better eyes.

3, I checked FB, Google Reader, LJ more than I like to admit. Since work blocks my email, I can't communicate w/ my friends, so I check those places to see what everyone is up to. Of course, I do get quite a bit of down time to check. C'mon I actually do work around here.

4, I secretly like the West Coast Swing better than Lindy, but the people and music are better in Lindy. This will make my friend Michelle giddy. I know it! I like the technicality of the dance, versus alot of willy nilly non-rule rules. But, truly, I enjoy the the music more and I have more friends on one side than the other.

5, If I can have sugar as meals I would. Talk about having major sweet tooth. I know it's bad, but I blame it on my mom who lets me have chocolate cake for breakfast when I was little. Not every day, but when I stay with her. It's the fun thing to do... and I would do it occasionally now as an adult. But seriously... I don't need the LBs.

6, I think I have ADD when it comes to crafting & hobbies. I crochet, I am learning how to knit, I stamp, I paper craft in other ways, I can make soap, I ice skate (spinning up to 5 revolution on one foot), I dance, I DJ, I travel. Talk about ADD. I don't (yet) bead, make candles, draw, paint, sew, basket weave...etc, I'm sure I can come up with more... but I don't need the temptation.

7, Even though I don't sew, I have a T-shirt quilt in progress going on 4 years now. I at one point had a vision to turn my high school, college, and dance T-shirts I've collected and turn them into a theme quilt. (i.e. Dance Events, College Events) I started one for Hard Rock Cafe, when I used to be a big fan at collecting their shirts. And I've done about 3/4th of the front panel and kinda gave up. Mainly because there's more math than I'm willing to do... Plus, I don't have the patient. But yet every year, as a new year resolution, I vow to finish that quilt. Maybe 2009 is a good year. We'll see.

Ok, this is where I have to tag people. I don't want to leave anybody out, so if you so incline to play. Please go ahead and post it to your blog. Feel free to let me know that you did it, so I can go read yours.

Have a great day! I will post card tomorrow, promise!

Granted, I messed up on the stamping portion of the process (note the black mark by the hat) but things happens, I'm ok with it.

I was hoping I would have time to do the 12 cards for 12 days of Xmas that Marie at Splendid was sponsoring. But I just don't have any time. November had bearly ended and my calendar for December filled from the 1st thru the 18th. I know, busy busy... Watch that i have nothing to do for Xmas or New Years. Go figure!

That said, that company came a long way and realized who is really the big player of their business... stampers & scrappers. So, now they have more fancy stuff.

Now, I didn't go overboard, I just got the 10 borders and center, the From the Desk/Library/Kitchen of border, and my damask. I just started to ink the Damask, will post how the rest of that goes. :)

Wine Charms, peeps!

So, I was reading the Verve Blog and thought how brilliant is that? I'm using my Shrinky Dinks for cards, they're using it for charms. That's freggin' brilliant!!!

While I was browsing for new classes at Sew Crafty to see what's new, Sarah (the owner) is slated to do easy earrings. I told her, if you're using wire, you can just do a wine charm, and use the same materials. Turn out, she's using other materials to do the earring class, but she liked the wine charm idea. So, in her briliantness, we're going to do a Wine Charm Class.

I'm predicting that people will be stoked about the Shrinky Dinks, talk about bringing back your childhood memory. I actually have never played w/ them as a kid, but I got to as an adult and love love love love it!

Funnier yet, my friend Michelle, whom I was hanging with this weekend, thought that was a brilliant idea and did a set to sell at the craft fair, one set for Doggie lovers and one set for Winter/Holiday theme. This is so cool. How one little post on someone's blog inspire a small trend. I'm excited!!!

If you're in Houston, please sign up and join the fun! We'll be having wine and refreshments while making our wine charms.

So, this past weekend I had done a craft show w/ my friend, Michelle. While either one of us made any sale because the event wasn't publicized very well, we did get to catch up w/ each other.

While we were sitting waiting for people to show up, we were working on our respective crafts. She made jewlery, I made cards. The other I did was these Post-It holders. It's quick and easy to make.

I just personalized one for the heck of it, and matched it w/ Post-Its. Then, I just did holiday themed ones. A lot of people stopped by and was commenting how clever of an idea that is, but no one bought anything. :( Fooey.

Anyway, that said, got some exposure, we made money from our friends because they value our work and our time. We got such great friends!!!

So, for those of you who live down South would understand that there's a snowball chance in hell that you get to skate outdoors. Unless some sort of miracle happens, the chances of that is slim to none. So, we don't get the romantic scenes of couples skating outdoors and have their lovey dovey conversation. Well, this year, the park downtown (where they try to 'hip' it up) decided to do an outdoor rink. In the past, it's very sad looking because they don't have enough electricity to fight the heat that melts the rink. So, inevitably, the poor tiny rink would be filled with puddles of water everywhere.

This year, however, a different company is doing it at his brand spankin' new park. It's kinda neat because it's a true vision of you built it they will come. People like the atmosphere and they try to do different things every night. There's also 2 restaurants there. So, trying to be THE place to go. Sadly, it's on the edge of downtown, you barely get the downtown traffic because it's away from everyone's offices, and people who work down here don't usually like to be back down here to socialize. Like me.

Anyway, we went to skate at the outdoor rink, it's cute, it's small. You don't get to build up any momentum to do much. As my friends were worried that they will be launched into the man-made lake. I told them, no such luck. You have to really try to make it that far. I definitely treasure that kind of experience, even though I know it'll get melted soon. :(

Anyway, so here's my skating card. I like my reindeer all chic and cute and skating! So, hopefully, where you are, there's some cool skating spot to skate, either indoors or out. :)

The other one, if you dig back, it has 3 bunnies on there. But, this time I did the girls instead. The more I look at the card, the more it reminds me of Brady Bunch; except not having a 3X3 grid. And that these are friends, not step-families. And definitely no Alice.

I've seen several people doing the spotlight cards in blogosphere. So I've decided to do one too. When I was working on this, I was thinking, you know, I've done this before... total deja vu. What I like about this card, not to toot my own horn, is that I like the texture that it's 1/2 embossed. I can't tell you how much I love my Cuttlebug... I'm actually going to 'expand' and get my nestabilities a try. Although, from what I read, I need a C mat and something to wedge in between, so I'm going to have give that a try.

So, this is a Rockstar Anya, which reminds me of Guitar Hero. Not that I'm any good at it, because I have very little coordination, but for people who are good at it, it seems pretty fun. Back in the day, before Guitar Hero, there was the Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), and I was very coordinate at that. But, some how, that didn't transfer to my arm... so my eye-leg coordination is good, but my eye-arm-hand coordination, not-so-good. ^o^

Anyway, back to the card, I did it as part of the Olympic contest... but I was having so much fun to make her glitter glam. I'm all of a sudden energized to glitter her someway... BUT! I had the patterned paper which is already glittered, so I felt weird to glitter the Anya more. (Yes, I'm from the school of 'less is more'). That's ok, don't worry, I'll glitter her up next one.

I like this cardstock I'm stamping on, except that it doesn't like to take on color very well. I have another version, and hopefully do another one w/ marker and see if I can tell the difference.

Of course, last night, as I was working on my 2nd version, I started had a cough attack, then turned into an asthma-tack, then turned to trip to ER. That's just tons of fun. NOT!

Anyway, her hair has nice jews in it... they're pearls... figured heck, she lives under the sea, probably get a direct distribution than us human folks would. Personally, I'm more partial to pearls than other kinds of bling anyhow... so it's just fitting.

The Mermaid 2.0 will have different color hair and bling and outfit. I'm thinkin 3.0 will be different size... we'll see. ;-)

Expecting

Expecting
Originally uploaded by Patty_kins
You know, ever since my friend Minty exposed me to A Muse, I always liked their stuff... Recently, they had a thing where they waived the shipping charge. I'm a sucker for that. I think mainly it's because to me, it's like paying for taxes, you have to spare extra for that charge. Except, you never know what it is... unlike taxes, there's a flat rate wherever you are. Some states has no sales tax. But, shipping charges sometimes seems arbitrary. I understand that small businesses like stamp companies need to recoup some of that cost, but some places just seems outrageous to me.

That's why, if there's a stamp company that said if you buy more than X, we'll waive the shipping, more than likely I will frequent your place. Versus, despite some of the stamp companies has excellent products, I'd rather go to LSS for that instead. I know it's silly because I do wind up paying a bit more at the LSS with their overhead and sales tax, just figure I might as well spread the love around, especially I'm just buying one or two stamps instead of a lot.

Anyway, so, had a sale and threw in some cards as a bonus. YAY! So, I went to town... well, sort of.

These are the 2 I've been dying to play with since I saw them online. Boy, did I enjoy inking that up!

I've volunteered my service to make invites for 2 different friend's baby showers. One is coming up soon... so I'm playing around w/ different style and layout. This is one of them. You can't see the word very well on the photo, but it said 'She's Expecting'. Thought that's appropriate.

I'm struggling w/ the color because when you make cards/invites like that, are you supposed to catered to the mother? Or are you supposed to cater to the sex of the baby? I'm very confused on that. We'll see.

Apple for you

Apple for you

It's not until I moved to the States that people started to do it, and you felt like you have to keep up w/ the Joneses. Luckily, I liked my teachers here, so I'm happy to give, versus my teachers in HK were mean and they do believe in corpal punishment.

Anyway, I like Apple fine, nothing against it or giving it... but it's very weird to give food to people if you didn't hand made it. It's not fancy or whatever. Why Apple? Why not banana nut bread? Or muffin? Why food? As a teacher, I'd be afraid of what kind of journey that food item has taken in order to make it to your desk, wouldn't you?

Alright, off of my rant.

This is one of my cards going towards the Splendid Olympics. I know it's goofy of me, but the stamp is too cute... I just have to do it.

You know, what's weird? I actually had painted what you see is white in a light lavender but it's not showing up on the photo... go figure. Hmm...

Well, it's nice and sunny out, so hope it is where you are as well.

Anyway, this is a cupcake card for a whatever occasion. I don't know if you can see the glitter pen. I told you I'm addicted to my glitter pens.
If I can glitter pen everything and makes them look good, I'd do it!

So, these stamps from Verve Visual, they are doing a sale and donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. So, if you've been on the fence about buying, this is the time to do it. Make a donation and get some good stamps.

Weather finally turn cold here in South Texas, hopefully true winter will be here soon! Can't wait!

I think because there are some serious illnesses around me, I'm thinking that this should be a sympathy card, but either way... it works as a Just Because type of notes too.

You can't see it, but the stamp: Just A Note, I had traced it w/ a glitter pen, and so it's shiny. I like all things shiny, sometimes I'm just trying not to go overboard.

Anyway, it's a simple and effective kinda card... one stone, 2 birds...

*yawn*

I've been doing some stamping over the weekend. Splendid is having a Olympic, to see how many cards you can make w/ only their stamps. I was doing so good on Saturday, but by Sunday, my mojo kinda fizzled out. Ah well.

If you wanna play, the deadline for the Olmypics is Nov.2nd, and you can only use their stamps. Post a link to your site or email her the pics. Good luck!

Anyway, that said, from far away the yellow blended together and really makes the green pops. I like it!

Did you see that Splendid Stamping at Pink Poison is having a card Olympics? I'm going to have to see what I can whip up with. =)

Hopefully this will be a wonderfully relaxed weekend... work is getting crazy, I now have 2 bosses in hospital for different reason, and higher ups thinks that the place w/ go to pits. Which I kept telling them, I was here the last time this happened 3 years ago. But then, now the market is going to the pits. Oy!

Hope you have a great weekend. I didn't even noticed that I went pass 6000 posts. Thank you so much! I'm going to look around and see what kinds of goodie I can find for a blog candy to celebrate! See ya!

This bunny is so cute that it's just made my job easy on all sides.

I have an enabler alert!!!!
A Muse has a secret sale... if you spent over $40 before tax, you get free shipping, but you need to put on the order 'FREE SHIPPING', in order to get that. If you spent $50 before tax, you get the Kitchen Notecards. That's a good deal!!! This deal is good till Wed (10/22) midnight PST.

Of course, I just read that My Favorite Things has a thing where your order over $40 will get free shipping but also $5 in gift cert towards your next order. That's totally awesome, too bad I've gotten all the stamps I want from them already... just waiting on the new release. That is good till Friday (10/24) and Kim will email you your gift cert when she gets back from the Stamping Cruise.

While I'm lucky not to know of any victims, I do know people that are suffering thru cancer right now. So, I'm more sensitive to it, I guess.

Anyway, as I was saying, there's just seems to be less cards featuring Pink Ribbon theme that last year this time. Not sure if it's because there's no new set of stamp that's Pink Ribbon related or is there 'better' things to feature.

Either way, that issue is still very real for alot of people. Many sufferer is still going thru it, many more have been thru it. I hope the effort to find a cure never seize until we got it right.

I know this is a simple card, but hopefully we didn't forget.

Super news! Marie at Splendid Stamps/Pink Poison features some of my cards on her blog. I'm so thrilled and honored!

Her stamps are super fun and cute, you just want to squeeze and hug... except, they're stamps. Gosh, I wish I'm talented enough to make my own stamps. Except all of the stamps are the cutesy stuff non-stop. Haha... That's ok, I'll leave that to the experts!

This weekend, I got hooked on a new game. It's sorta like a Suduko but with math in it. It's called KenKen. And I just got hooked!!!

Alright, need to finish up an head out.

When I first played with it couple years ago, I was thoroughly confused... not sure why it's working for others and not for me.

But I came back around this time, and it seems to be doing the trick. Whatever that trick is, I'm sticking with it... It gives very good watercolor-like results. Can't be beat!

At the very bottom I did stamp Happy Day trying match that brown-ish grey in the paper, but it didn't come thru as I had hoped. Ahh well, you win some you lose some.

Glad today is Friday, too much drama going on at work. For those who don't know, I work in the Financials. So, needless to say, we have been pulling our hair out. So glad the weekend is almost here.

I really like this sassy witch, I dare say that I like her because she reminds me of Bewitched's Samantha. She does have 'that' retro feel to her.

Although, if I was smart, I would've cut out the moon by the house since the flying witch already has a moon... Oy! Maybe it's cool enough to have 2 moons??? Me thinks that's pushing it... hmmm...

Cat and tree

Cat and tree

I swear I wasn't going to do more Halloween cards, but I just had so much fun with some of the supplies I just have to. HAVE TO!

It's funny when you re-organize you find stuff that you didn't know you have. And this is one of those times where I didn't know I have so much Halloween related stuff until I found them. I know, that's bad, that means I need to be better organize, but who has the time if you're stamping or crafting?!

So, I found the MME paper and die cut. MME always has beautiful paper and they used to have matching die cut. Now their die cuts are complementary, I know it's a hair of a difference, but anyway... In my pile I found 2 black cat die cuts. So, what's better than have the cat be taunted by little ghosts.

When I was playing w/ the ghosts, it really (I mean genuinely) spooked me. I had the faded black ink pad, and it's not quite showing the entire image but it does. And on matte paper, it was freaky. So, I was trying to duplicate results on glossy, and it's just wasn't the same.

Anyway, cat being taunted by ghosts... it's seems to be typical that cats love trees, what if the tree is haunted? And what if it's a black cat? Would the cat go up the tree and chase away the ghosts?

Sorry for rambling, it's early and I'm at work... bleh!

For some reason I'm less productive than I am at work. Guess that's because I'm forced to do more when I'm stuck at my office 45 hours out of the week.

Well, what ended up happening was me not stamping, but admiring my stamps. Do you do that? Every so often just admire your stamps and maybe something will jump out at you and you make something. I essentially just rearranged things around, not being productive but yes at the same time.

Anyway, this is a stamp from Splendid, they're are just so dear and cute at the same time. I just *heart* it so much! Just want to squeeze it...

It's so funny, now that people know that I'm into making cards, whenever they get any catalog people are saving it for me. Which is funny because naturally all of us just trash those catalogs since we get so many.

But now, I'm getting so many... oy! I do tab the ones I'm interested in learning from or just trying out the sketch. But I feel like I should set up a recycling bin just for catalogs.

I got the idea to do this card from a catalog that we get at work. This time of year we usually get alot of cards and gift basket catalog to get people thinking about their client during the holidays.

I just like to flip thru to see what's the trends are. Some of them are truly hard to duplicate, but this is one of the ones that when I saw it, I immediately jumped on it and thought how cool is that? I have the stamps to make it and it'll come pretty close. I wish I've kept the catalog because now I got another one at work and don't know which is which and I don't see the card to show you.

Anyway, the one they had the box is on the other side and it was for Xmas but I just did a solemn thank you... that would be perfect for guys.

I think While you're sleeping and Miss Congeniality were way over played on TV, I haven't seen the others in quite some time.

Anyhoo, one of the characters in Hope Float was named Birdie, and I was flipping for my new uninked Birdie stamp...

I kinda liked how the colors turned out. It's not quite brown, not quite red, there's a hint of yellow...

Gosh, can't wait for my vacation next week to play more.

You know how it is... sometimes you see a set but you really just want that one stamp out of the entire set, but you have to convince yourself to pay for the whole thing.

Anyway, this time, the swap is w/ Pink Cat Studio's stamps. I like their stamps ok, but I'm just too lazy to get the unmounted and have to find a way to mount and store them. Not that having piles of wood mounted is any better, just more like I need to set aside time to prep than to play. I know, I know, I'm a bum.

So this way, w/ the image swap we get to play with other people's stamps... that's kinda cool! I hope my partner likes it.
