Purple ink

Purple ink Thank you

Hola!!! This week has been dubbed my workout week... I went skating on Monday, went walking (3 miles) w/ some co-workers. Today is back to skating... tomorrow might be walking again. Hope I got more time to stamp...

Anyway, this is going to be part of a series that my friend had commissioned me to do. She needed some professional looking Thank You cards. I'm trying really hard not to have to go and dig up my embossing stuff. But, to that effect, I ended up digging up my Emboss ink pads.

This one is really purple, but it come across as silvery purple on Green. Then Thank you, is really blue, but came out as silvery blue. From the picture, it kinda looks like the image was inked unevenly. But in real life, I checked the image and it came out ok. So, I'm thinking it's the lighting I took it in.

Anyway, it's fun to play w/ different kind of inks. You'll see some more coming up in the next few days. Stay tune!

Mother's day

Anyway, I got my new MFT order. I just love this set... It's so nice and simple, and clean. Anyway, I haven't been making any decent Mother's day card, so this one totally redeemed my faith... haha.

Well, what got me really excited was the pearl stickie that I stuck on the card. You may not be able to see it, but it's there on the corners of the square. It has a little flower, and I stuck a Pearl thingy on there. It's just too cool!

Anyway... back to work...

Grad card

Grad
Originally uploaded by Patty_kins
Today is my co-worker's last day at work and she's graduating from grad school. So, I made the card for her.

I'm going to really miss her because even though she always like to play the victim around here, she will be missed. She moved to her new team, indirectly because of me, and I'm glad the team valued her as an important team player, and they will miss her more than me, I know that for a fact.

Anyway, the idea of the card originally was to have the hats as a background and have one different color as the focal point. But as I stamped it, I realized that it kinda looks like at the end of the graduation ceremony where people throw their caps up. So, that idea win.

I remember I didn't want to throw my cap up in the air for my high school graudation, because we had it pinned into my hair. Plus, it was a rental, and I have to return that. In college, however, I didn't care much about that, so just did it, and grabbed whichever cap landed. Oh well.

Anyway, I got the stamp from Archivers. I know Hero Arts is doing alot of Archivers exclusives, so had to check it out. I just love this one stamp for some reason.

Another thing I loved was the pearl sticker. You know, instead of the blings, it's pearls. That's uber awesome. Can't wait to play with them.

I'm thinking this card is going to MIL, she's very much into purple... But the card seems to be missing something, can't quite put my finger on it....

In other news, going to have to give crochet a rest, I know that was so quick and short lived... I did 2 more mini projects and had tons of fun, but my wrist is hurting like a mutha... so I'm going to stamp for a while and come back to that. Plus, I need more 'eyes' for my projects, so I'm kinda at a stand-still anyhow. But we'll rest for a bit and then keep on truckin'.

Anyway, I don't have any specific theme, but I also just received my 'Happy' stamp. So, you know I must ink it.

To that end, I want to provide a word of warning when you buy used stamps, esp. those the user have to set themsevles. The lady who sold this to me, had mounted the stamp upside down from the sticker. While that is one of the more evil things that can happen to a stamper, she could've left me a note to that effect. But she didn't. So, I had to 're-set' the stamp.

Anyway, it's done... that stamp is awesome and so versatile... it's a total must have!

First Pear

First Pear
Originally uploaded by Patty_kins
Ok, I know most of you looking at this, and go: hey, this is neither a stamp or card related project. I know, I know... this little guy is just too cute, so I must show off.

What happened was, I always sign up for blog candy contests but never win anything. So, I've been keeping up w/ Ana Paula's blog and just fell in love w/ her adorable dolls (amigurumi for you knitter/crocheters). And she was doing a blog candy ... well more like a book giveaway because she got a book published.

So, I thought, what the heck, I enter these things all the time, and never get anything. Lo and behold, I won! I swear, this is the first time I won and the owner followed thru. (read: yes, so it's not precisely true that I never win, just that the people never followed thru and I felt rude to keep asking.)

Anyhoo, so I won the book, it arrived, I was anxiously flipping thru all the cuteness the book contains. Then remembers that I don't know how to crochet. Bwhwahaha... Well, guess what? Then, it's time to get off my toosh and go learn. So, learned I did, from a wonderful owner at Yarntopia.

So, the end result is this little guy. I just found him so adorable.

I'm sure I'm nowhere as good as the talented creator it came from. but, it's a start. I have started on 2 more little guys. So, they'll have little friends around. I'm also going to try to find a way to incorporate card w/ my crafts (in general). That might be a whole different ball of wax altogether. We'll see how far I'll get....

If you like this pear, go check out Ana Paula's blog and her book. I know, I'm trying to get the Yarn store owner to buy it, now that she got to see how cool this is. =D

Green preggar card

Green preggar card
Originally uploaded by Patty_kins
I swear, last of the preggar card, today... Next round would more likely be Mother's Day type of card, but today... we're on the last of the preggars.

My friend, who commissioned me to make the preggar cards, picked this one. She is kinda cute and sassy. Totally fitting for a friend that is sassy.

After I put the girl up on the card, I felt a tad empty, so I decided to pair it up with some toys. The handy thing is that the MFT big stamp has the toys as a background-ish kinda decoration, so I just added that to mine. =^_^=

Anyhoo, this is the winner for my friend, hope her receipent likes it.

It was so much fun. I like it when someone come up w/ a request, and that inspire me more than just making cards randomly. I know that sounds strange, but it gives me something to work towards.

What else is fun, is the paper piecing technique... I know I must've talked to death about that... but it's really cool... I am sorta lazy about coloring, plus, it doesn't always comes out as nice as the patterned paper can do. So... it's a perfect solution.

It's so cool... if I may say so myself. Alright have to go back to work...

Now, I wouldn't disagree that it can use another flair or something. But, it's cute, I think. :)

**Quick note: MFT is having a sale. Not any kind of celebration, but it's more of a fundraising nature. Kim, the owner, is so touched w/ a Cancer victim story that she wanted to do something to help. This only applies to stamps but you get a discount and helping a good cause. So, go shop!

I collected alot of yoga pants from dancing, when it was a fad that people wear yoga pants to workshops and dances. Now, everyone wear jeans... the bad thing is that Jeans sticks when you sweat, but Yoga pants doesn't. Nowadays I mostly wear them to skate... so that works too.

Anyway, about this card: I love paper piecing technique. I don't know if it's because I don't feel like coloring alot of the times, or I just needed an excuse to use my exacto knife, but I just love the piecing technique. I think this shirt came up quite nicely from a striped patterned paper.

That said: 'Om'

So, I'm sure everyone once in a while have something that just strike them and inspire them to make something special. Well, my 'something special' came from the Frozen Aisle of Central Market. DH and I were walking around, and some bring color containers. They are LaLoo's ice cream. I've never tried them, but apparently, what makes them popular is that the ice cream is made out of goats milk as oppose to cows.

Anyway, with their colorful logo, I decided to go to their website, and more color inspiration. There's their logo on their site:

So, after that, I got home and started to playing around with it. I like the little star/flower thingie. Which reminds me of the Verve's Fancy Floral. So, after playing with different colors and different combo, I came back to this color.

Ok, I know it's not perfectly, exact, like the picture, but that's the closest card stock I can find. So, it'll have to do. Plus, it sorta worked... I think. For the life of me, I can't find a good Minty Green color, otherwise, I'd do it. I think Aqua Mist from Papertrey comes the closest.

Anyway, here it is...

Horse

So, this one is one of the more 'manly' cards I made. I was very thrilled to get the SU Wanted set. Not so much for the Wanted words. But the circle is awesome, and I love paisley, and at first I didn't think I have any use for the horse, since I'm not really an animal person. But, then I remember I got a stamp set from Stamp Magick that would match up nicely.

It was a Chinese saying that rougly translate to 'When the horse arrived you completed your job'. And nicely translate to wishing you success soon. So, I thought, that'll be perfect.

Then I saw Julia Stainson that did a card with a bunch of horses running... so I'm attempted to do that with this... Not sure if that turned out ok, but I like it fine.... if anything, it looks like horses in motion.

I tried my hand at another card but it didn't turn out as well as this one. Oh well, we'll keep trying.

Good Gossip

No such luck for me... I have been studying for a test for work... it's my 6th license test. This one is deceivingly easy, so I didn't want to be a slacker and not study. But I've read the entire thing twice yesterday and did the practice test and did well. So, you know I would take it as a sign that I can be a slacker. I hate that.... I do well when a test is all definitions with little applications. But on the flip side, my head gets big for thinking that it'll be a piece of cake. Oy.

Ok, something fun... this is another set from MFT, I swear I just love their stuff... just LOVE!

Alright, gonna go hit the books. Maybe I can get some cards done after the test today. Wish me luck!

Quick card

Quick card
Originally uploaded by Patty_kins
Well, I was just haven't so much fun w/ the paper pack that I just put this together very quickly. It was really all scraps from other things, but that's what made it nice.

I actually had intended this for a friend's baby but instead, I rather do something else. So, this will be my generic baby card instead. :) I think this is sex neutral where it's ok to go for either... but I'm think now that it's a tad more boyish than girlish... go figure.

Past weekend, I went to outlet shops and shopped for 5 hours, but it was also hanging out w/ friends, so that was good retail therapy. Of course, also mean that I haven't done much in terms of crafting, hopefully I'll get to catch up soon.

Sorry had to keep it short, but I have to study a test for work both tomorrow & the day after, so I better get my butt going.

Anyway, they are supposed to roll out something new too... can't wait.

Meanwhile, I need to hop on over to MFT to order their new release. I've been so busy that I don't have any time to stamp but you know paper crafters are collectors, so that's just part of the territory, I think. ;)

I wish SU would go more into the chic direction. I mean, don't get me wrong you have to have your cutesy stamps, your baby stamps, and all the 'musts' but more of the girlie chic doesn't hurt either.

Anyway, I whipped this card up in 5 mins as soon as I found the patterned paper. It's so just fitting. I'm going to see if I can do that for some other stamp too... we'll see.

The other day skating, I fell and hit my head, so I'm having this weird headache that's not from within, but from the outside... so we'll see.

*sigh* Look like I won't have time this week after work to work on any projects... :( Or this weekend, as a friend of mine will be in town, maybe we can drag him out and go dancing. We'll see. :)

More stuff...

Mother's day
Originally uploaded by Patty_kins
So, here's a card I made w/ my new MFT set... I mean, it's new to me, but their newest stuff will be revealed tomorrow. I think I like it better when they used to do it on the first... now that's always seem to be the first Wed of the month... which just puts me on the edge of my seat.

I love their stuff so much... this card however, I'm not quite sure about that.... hmm... we'll have to see.

Over the weekend, my friend Michelle encouraged me to sell my cards at her jewlery booth. I got some pretty good feed back. Sold some stuff... which is amazing considering I didn't expect to sell any. Not because I don't have confident in my cards, but the event she's at people don't tend to think of buying a card. It was a dance competition event, so people are more incline to buy her jewlery to get some bling on the dance floor than a card.

Anyway, one of the requests was: how come I don't have any 'Sorry your day suck' type of cards. Well, come to think of it, I don't have a whole lot of I'm sorry cards. I have Sympathy cards, but I don't have any Sorry cards. DH and I were talking about that, and it's true... it's one of the most basic cards I would've or should've had, and I don't have a stamp for that... that's so strange.

So, I search thru my drawers upon drawers of stamps... sure enough, I don't even own one Sorry stamp. I have alot of thinking of you, praying for you, Happy Bday, thank you, congrats stamps but no Sorry stamps. So, now it's the search for the good Sorry stamp.

Will have to keep you updated on the search. :)
