Old card and a rememberance.

I know I'm way late on the Easter-card-train, but I forgot I had made this a while back.

It's pretty neat, you see a nice card, then you can open it like an Easter egg.  I think that was pretty nifty.   Now you see it, now you don't .  Totally peekaboo.  I love it.

On a sad note: I don't think alot of you know this, but the title of the Blog is Lindy Stamper.  Lindy is short for Lindy Hop, which is a style of Swing Dancing (think Big Band from the 40s).  Today, we found out that a legend, Frankie Manning, had passed away at the age of 94.  It's a shame because he was just a month shy of his 95 birthday.   I am a part of a team that is organizing his birthday festival which is the largest the dance community have ever seen.  We were all excited to see him again and have fun with him.

His passing has been very surreal for alot of his students, myself included... we just saw him last month.  I was one of the few having drinks with him that weekend.  To hear that his health deteriorate so quickly, and hear how he slipped into a coma and then passed.  It's just unreal to me.  Also very unreal to alot of us who have learned from him one point or another.

Even the last time we saw him, we were dancing in his honor, and while he cannot dance himself due to his hip, he wanted to be a part of it.  That's the type of guy he is, fun, enjoy the dance, enjoy the people and always wanted to be a part of it.

I am forever grateful to have the honor to meet him, take a photo with him, danced with him, listen to his lectures, and taught a class with him.   RIP Frankie.

This is a card I made w/ the new SU embossing folder. Here's my thing: I'm glad they're expanding to embossing folders and die cuts. I also know that their goal is to get people to spend more money. On the flip side of that argument, I'm a cheap skate. So, for me to spend the money for a die cut machine, their specific whatever the doo-dats and gadgets, I really don't think that's fair, especially I've put in investments in other doo-dats and whatnots already.

Trick?

Go to Splitcoast and see what the smart ladies from all over have found. Most have already discovered tricks to maximize what they have on hand. I think that's what I'll do.

Not that I'm not smart enough to figure it out, but since someone else already has it done, why not leverage that?! That said, they're so dang smart, that's awesome! Totally saved me some time and grief.

Anyway, I'm going go fiddle more w/ SU stuff w/ my trustee Cuttlebug... wish me luck!

Anyway, I got my Hero Arts International girls stamps. I love them, they're adorable. You can't really tell, but her kimono is paper pieced instead of colored. I saw a bunch of cherry blossom last time I was in Atlanta, so I thought it's fitting to have that stamp match w/ a little girl. Of course, I was going to find a greeting to match, but the more I play around with it, the more I like it plain. I don't know why, and may change my mind later, but that's what it is for now.

Oh! Enabler alert, MFT has some stamps on sale in their Bubble Bin. If you're on the fence, this is the time to buy at discount.

Happy Friday!!!  Thought this day was never going to get here...

Well, this card I made for a friend of mine who is getting marry this weekend.  Don't worry, this is not the card I am giving her for the wedding.  This card was for her lingerie shower.

It was a very small gathering, and to be honest, I didn't think I would even get invited, as I am not close to neither the bride or groom.   But I'm always good for a good party.   The bride is extremely shy and as I said, I didn't know her that well, so I didn't want to venture and get something extreme whichever direction.  Instead, I bought some candy under-things and a gift card.  The bride blushed and everyone had a great laugh.

I just thought this card is very very fitting about the whole lingerie theme.  It's a tad of sexy and racy.  ;-)  So, it was very appropriate.  =D  What I had done w/ it was that I flocked the trim of
her skirt and her brush.  I also brighten up the TV screen to make it look like it's on.  See here:

I just love it!!!  Hope you do too!  More importantly, hope the bride does. ;)

Birdy thank you

Well, Tax Day is here... I hope everyone had a decent time, unlike mine. Both DH and I had to pay an arm, which is an improvement from last year when we paid an arm and a leg. That was painful. This year we got a little relieve, but still not good....

You know what that means, right? It means, less money for stamps and paper. Boo!!!!

Anyway, this card I did is for a guy friend. He and I are both in the Swing Dance community. He did alot for the group and I wanted to show him some appreciation. So, I got him a gift card and thought I'd make him a card. Trust me, if I have more time, I would've made one of those nifty gift card holder/card thingys, but alas... I didn't get to.

I like this birdy alot. And while it's not as many as I had hoped, I think it'll pass, don't you? Hmm...

That said, I actually had a great weekend... It was nice to know that I didn't have to go to work on Friday... that really made the Friday good. Instead, I ran all around town and ran errands. Which, I didn't mind, because it gave me some time to play yesterday.

Here's my Easter-ish card for the year. I got these stamps for a while, just didn't have time to play. I played around and what not, but I like that it's just simple and clean. Although, the more I'm looking at it, the more I wish to add some grass and shadow underneath them... Hmmm... Have to think more on that.

Guy/Mod Bday

Guy/Mod Bday

I really truly like all things MOD, there used to be a stamp company... forgot the name now... that has these cute characters that were all Mod, like a spy or cheerleader. They were so cute. Then they went out of business. :( And I do know of couple more companies that has Mod stuff but just not quite my style.

I don't have too many guy cards (or mod cards for that matter), so I guess I'll put this under the guy category. Not that I don't like guy color but somehow the girly colors just inspire me more... I can't help it!

Anyway, I didn't do any Easter cards, because it literally snuck up on me. So, I'm going to start on my Mother's Day & Father's Day cards. I know I have to do a wedding card and an anniversary card in there somewhere... but that's what's slated... hopefully I get to play/stamp this long weekend. Well, one can always hope, right?!

Robot bday!

I just made a card in case someone needs it. I've been doing that instead of making cards I really need to... i.e. an upcoming nuptial for a set of friends. I'm just slow... can't be moved to do it, will probably have to wait till last minute to get that done.

In the mean time, I got more fun silly cards along the way... now is that so bad? Hee hee....

Been sick and just wasn't up to nuff to make any cards. Instead, took care of a dance event in May up in NY. It's harder than you think... the event is to celebrate a Swing Dance Royalty, Frankie Manning, who will be turning 95 years young. So, to have a big event, in NY is only appropriate. The problem is, we just wrapped up on an event in Houston, helped out a sister community also in Houston. And we're the very same people that will be doing this event in NY. That's just a long distance difficulty with a big event like that. We're anticipating 1600 people. That's just tons of people running around, tons of moving pieces. So, if I don't get to make more cards, that's my excuse.

Anyway, back to work.

I just wanted to make some bday cards in case I need it in a jiff. This is a good chicky card that is not too specific and it just girlie enough. I guess that just make me realize that I need a guy version of the card and have some standbys.

Anyway, sorry so short, totally swamped at work.

Refresh!

Refresh!

I don't usually F5 (refresh) much. Only when things gets stuck. Since I spend more than 40 hours here at work, they tend to have better service on that front.

However, I'm super scared on the April 1st because of this worm that everyone talked about. Even though we're Mac users at home, at work it's nothing but PC, and you know some idiot doesn't know better and hit the button to infect everyone. Oy.

Well, no fun things for April's Fool... we're swamped on all fronts and I think I"m getting sick, which I'm loading tons of Vitamin C just in case. *fingers crossed* that I don't get sick.
