Anyway, hope everyone have a safe New Year...

Talk to you next year. *giggles*

But, here we have an early Valentine... I know, we haven't even pick thru the After-Christmas sales and here we have Valentine's day. Hey, I know I"m not the only one. Because I saw all sorts of red at the store promoting Vday already.

So, I love this space Ian, and since he's holding a heart flag, "you rule my world' came to mind. Except, I have no letters that are that small to fit that space, so, I had to write that in w/ my Souffle pens. I love those, by the way.

The funny thing is that the paper I had was just green and mix of brown, but who would've thought that it makes a good planet/moon. Ha!

Enjoy! Stay tune for Jan 1, I'm going to roll out a blog candy for the new year!

Seriously? People?! I want my Post-Christmas Clearance, don't take my joy of that away. I enjoy the sale madness... of course, there's sales everywhere... hard to tell where the madness is...

Anyway, in the meantime, may you get some peace and quiet before the hustle and bustle comes your way!

Hooray for present

Hooray for present

I'm very thrilled for this time of year... everyone is cheery no matter how bad things are. Ok, not necessary this year, just because things are crappy all around, but people still kept their chins up and make sure the kiddies knows that no matter what, they'll be loved and have a good Xmas.

I love presents, and who doesn't? The element of surprise, the niceness of the person giving it to you. Granted, there are alot of weird choices that people have made before. The most bizarre one I've gotten was a toilet seat. No, I did not use it... I want to say that I didn't have the heart to return it, but definitely have no intention of using it. Nor do I know where it is. So, I guess that's that.

This year, my friend will host a New Years Day party where we swap white elephant gifts, that'll be fun. Last year at another similar swap I got a set of tools for eating lobster. As much as I like to eat lobster, I don't do it enough to necessitate any tools. So, that will go into the While Elephant pile. Much like the fruit cake. It's a gift that keeps on giving.

Except that I usually stare at my supplies and wait for something to jump out at me before I actually do anything. And this stamp I colored it too close to the Italian flag... that drove me crazy.

Anyway, cute bird nonetheless... it was indeed only 5 minutes, since I don't have the other stuff/supplies to distract me.

Today is bonus announcement day at work... let's hope I get something.

Been tagged...

... by Sarah at Sew Crafty. Before I start the meme, I have to tell you guys our Wine Charm class w/ stamped shrinky dink was a hit!

We had anticipated 4 people to show by the end of the night there were 7 of us. How cool was that?! What's more cool, is that she's donation a portion of the class fee to Star of Hope (a local shelter) to buy some craft supplies for their programs. That's awesome!

Alright, here's what I've been tagged with:
* Link your original tagger(s), and list these rules on your blog.
* Share seven facts about yourself in the post - some random, some weird.
* Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
* Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs and/or Twitter.

7 Facts:

1, I hate peas. For some reason, when I bite into one, it reminds me of the scene where Snow White bit into the poison apple. Don't know why, but that's what I associate peas with.

2, I liked raw carrots but not cooked ones. Again, it's another weird thing... maybe the mush-ness is not my thing, but the raw carrots always reminds me of bunny that eat to get better eyes.

3, I checked FB, Google Reader, LJ more than I like to admit. Since work blocks my email, I can't communicate w/ my friends, so I check those places to see what everyone is up to. Of course, I do get quite a bit of down time to check. C'mon I actually do work around here.

4, I secretly like the West Coast Swing better than Lindy, but the people and music are better in Lindy. This will make my friend Michelle giddy. I know it! I like the technicality of the dance, versus alot of willy nilly non-rule rules. But, truly, I enjoy the the music more and I have more friends on one side than the other.

5, If I can have sugar as meals I would. Talk about having major sweet tooth. I know it's bad, but I blame it on my mom who lets me have chocolate cake for breakfast when I was little. Not every day, but when I stay with her. It's the fun thing to do... and I would do it occasionally now as an adult. But seriously... I don't need the LBs.

6, I think I have ADD when it comes to crafting & hobbies. I crochet, I am learning how to knit, I stamp, I paper craft in other ways, I can make soap, I ice skate (spinning up to 5 revolution on one foot), I dance, I DJ, I travel. Talk about ADD. I don't (yet) bead, make candles, draw, paint, sew, basket weave...etc, I'm sure I can come up with more... but I don't need the temptation.

7, Even though I don't sew, I have a T-shirt quilt in progress going on 4 years now. I at one point had a vision to turn my high school, college, and dance T-shirts I've collected and turn them into a theme quilt. (i.e. Dance Events, College Events) I started one for Hard Rock Cafe, when I used to be a big fan at collecting their shirts. And I've done about 3/4th of the front panel and kinda gave up. Mainly because there's more math than I'm willing to do... Plus, I don't have the patient. But yet every year, as a new year resolution, I vow to finish that quilt. Maybe 2009 is a good year. We'll see.

Ok, this is where I have to tag people. I don't want to leave anybody out, so if you so incline to play. Please go ahead and post it to your blog. Feel free to let me know that you did it, so I can go read yours.

Have a great day! I will post card tomorrow, promise!

Rocker Elf

Anyway, Faith added an elf hat to the teacher Anya stamp. I thought, how about a Rocker Elf??? So, while I was hanging at the craft show, I was messing around and this came into play. Granted, I messed up on the stamping portion of the process (note the black mark by the hat) but things happens, I'm ok with it.

I was hoping I would have time to do the 12 cards for 12 days of Xmas that Marie at Splendid was sponsoring. But I just don't have any time. November had bearly ended and my calendar for December filled from the 1st thru the 18th. I know, busy busy... Watch that i have nothing to do for Xmas or New Years. Go figure!

I like how they have little grooves for you to pop in letters or borders. I think what held me back at first was that they are really known for their self-inking stamps. Those are fun and fine, when I was little for library type stamping, but now I crave for something fancy and snazzy.

That said, that company came a long way and realized who is really the big player of their business... stampers & scrappers. So, now they have more fancy stuff.

Now, I didn't go overboard, I just got the 10 borders and center, the From the Desk/Library/Kitchen of border, and my damask. I just started to ink the Damask, will post how the rest of that goes. :)

Go to their site, they're having 25% off of some of their sets... not that you need my help to nudge you or anything. ;-)

Wine Charms, peeps!

So, I was reading the Verve Blog and thought how brilliant is that? I'm using my Shrinky Dinks for cards, they're using it for charms. That's freggin' brilliant!!!

While I was browsing for new classes at Sew Crafty to see what's new, Sarah (the owner) is slated to do easy earrings. I told her, if you're using wire, you can just do a wine charm, and use the same materials. Turn out, she's using other materials to do the earring class, but she liked the wine charm idea. So, in her briliantness, we're going to do a Wine Charm Class.

I'm predicting that people will be stoked about the Shrinky Dinks, talk about bringing back your childhood memory. I actually have never played w/ them as a kid, but I got to as an adult and love love love love it!

Funnier yet, my friend Michelle, whom I was hanging with this weekend, thought that was a brilliant idea and did a set to sell at the craft fair, one set for Doggie lovers and one set for Winter/Holiday theme. This is so cool. How one little post on someone's blog inspire a small trend. I'm excited!!!

If you're in Houston, please sign up and join the fun! We'll be having wine and refreshments while making our wine charms.

So, this past weekend I had done a craft show w/ my friend, Michelle. While either one of us made any sale because the event wasn't publicized very well, we did get to catch up w/ each other.

While we were sitting waiting for people to show up, we were working on our respective crafts. She made jewlery, I made cards. The other I did was these Post-It holders. It's quick and easy to make.

I just personalized one for the heck of it, and matched it w/ Post-Its. Then, I just did holiday themed ones. A lot of people stopped by and was commenting how clever of an idea that is, but no one bought anything. :( Fooey.

Anyway, that said, got some exposure, we made money from our friends because they value our work and our time. We got such great friends!!!

Anyway, not much new here, just making a few cards trucking along. This weekend is super pack for me. Going to dinner w/ friends, playing old skool arcade games, going to a craft show, a Muppet Movie, a bday dinner, a baby shower, and dance lesson. *inhale* That's alot of stuff to happen in 54 hours...

HOpe you have a good weekend too!

So, 2 for today... they're basically the same in that they're rub ons... I was just so excited that the color offset very nicely. It's just totally 'pop' out of the card.

Ok, ok, I know what you're thinking, it's sort of cheating in that I hardly did anything but rub it on there, no technique necessary. I know, I know... but it's still cool. I can't help it!

So, there's my easy peasy cards... side by side.... tomorrow I'll post something that takes some technique to make... ;P

MFT Xmas

Can I just tell you how much I love the paper piecing technique. And MFT's stamps are perfect for that. You know who else's is great for that technique? Rubber Romance. I mean, I'm sure you can do that to almost any stamps you get, but some of them just scream to piece them...

Anyway, I must say that the couch and the outfit works perfectly together, if I may say so myself. You feel that it's Winter time and get to see that the outfits matches the season.

That said, it's 68 degrees in Houston, so I've been bragging about that to my friends up North. Of course, they get the bragging right in the summer time, but now... it's cold to them, it's not for me! Yay!

Skating along

So, for those of you who live down South would understand that there's a snowball chance in hell that you get to skate outdoors. Unless some sort of miracle happens, the chances of that is slim to none. So, we don't get the romantic scenes of couples skating outdoors and have their lovey dovey conversation. Well, this year, the park downtown (where they try to 'hip' it up) decided to do an outdoor rink. In the past, it's very sad looking because they don't have enough electricity to fight the heat that melts the rink. So, inevitably, the poor tiny rink would be filled with puddles of water everywhere.

This year, however, a different company is doing it at his brand spankin' new park. It's kinda neat because it's a true vision of you built it they will come. People like the atmosphere and they try to do different things every night. There's also 2 restaurants there. So, trying to be THE place to go. Sadly, it's on the edge of downtown, you barely get the downtown traffic because it's away from everyone's offices, and people who work down here don't usually like to be back down here to socialize. Like me.

Anyway, we went to skate at the outdoor rink, it's cute, it's small. You don't get to build up any momentum to do much. As my friends were worried that they will be launched into the man-made lake. I told them, no such luck. You have to really try to make it that far. I definitely treasure that kind of experience, even though I know it'll get melted soon. :(

Anyway, so here's my skating card. I like my reindeer all chic and cute and skating! So, hopefully, where you are, there's some cool skating spot to skate, either indoors or out. :)

I'm all for decorating, Martha Stewart style. But since I live in an apt, there's no big door and trimmings for me. :( That's ok, that's why I take it out on my cards. =D

That said, we need to pull our tree out from storage and start decorating, or it'll be too late.

Sorry for the short post, tons to do at work IRL.
